Where you start
Cherry Plain or Burtons Well
Long Grade 4 link — not a casual afternoon.
How to get there
- West-side access by private vehicle. Burtons Well is tent camping with basic showers and wood BBQs.
- No bins like Dandabah — pack rubbish out.
How to do it (step by step)
- Start early with full water, food, layers and offline map.
- Consider one-way with road support rather than 12 km return on tired legs.
What to expect
One of the longer west-side Grade 4 links. Treat it as a mountain day, not a picnic stroll.
How the day works
Best for walkers already comfortable on Bunya tracks. Combine with Burtons Well camping only if permits are pre-booked.
Hazards
Distance + Grade 4 + weak reception. A PLB/sat messenger is a reasonable planning note for multi-track west-side days.
Turning around
Turn around early if weather or energy fails. Road support is the sane bail-out when available.

Extra tips
- Mt Kiangarow is a good short add-on from the Burtons Well / west side when energy remains.
Often paired with Mt Kiangarow— only if energy and weather allow.
