Where you start
Barker Creek / Paradise area (confirm signed trackhead)
Return walk pattern — same path out and back unless signs show a circuit link.
How to get there
- Access via Great Bunya Drive private vehicle to the SE park road network.
- Park at the signed trackhead (Paradise / Barker area — re-check official map).
How to do it (step by step)
- Boot-wash, sturdy shoes, water for 2 hours.
- Follow signs to the lookout / Tree ID feature; return the same way unless a circuit link is signed and open.
What to expect
A Grade 3 return of about 5.4 km focused on a lookout and tree identification in rainforest country. Less time than the full Barker circuit, more commitment than Scenic Circuit.
How the day works
Morning walk, lunch at Dandabah or Paradise, then leave longer west-side links for another visit.
Hazards
Same rainforest package: wet timber, ticks, cones, boot-wash, weak phone signal.
Turning around
Return on the same path. Do not short-cut through bush.
Map (orientation)

Extra tips
- Good middle option between Scenic Circuit and full Barker Creek Circuit.
- Combine with a picnic at Paradise or Dandabah, not another Grade 4 link the same afternoon unless you know your pace.
Often paired with Barker Creek— only if energy and weather allow.

Barker Creek
10 km circuit (QPWS journey page; re-checked 2026-08-20) · moderate
Longer signature rainforest circuit (about 10 km, 3–4 hours, Grade 3) linking Dandabah / Paradise country: Paradise, Little and Tim Shea Falls, optional 750 m detour to Big Falls lookout (tallest waterfall, best after rain), and a grassy bald above Big Falls for lunch. Best full-day immersion.
